Joan J. Bonfiglio, a lifelong resident of Medford, died at the Woodbriar Nursing Center in Wilmington on Tuesday morning, August 14, 2012. She was 92 years old.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on June 24, 1920, she was the beloved daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Andolino) Bonfiglio. Joan was a very active communicant of St. Joseph Church in Medford, serving as a eucharistic minister and she was also a member of the Sodality.
She was the special friend of Inez M. and the late John J. O’Connell of Saugus. She was also the special aunt of John J., Jr. and his wife Patricia O’Connell of Florida, Dr. Kevin F. and his wife Laurie O’Connell of Maryland, Maura L. and her husband Atty. Daniel M. Carroll of North Reading, David G. O’Connell of California and Erin M. O’Connell and Colleen M. Coyne both of Amesbury.
She was the devoted sister of the late Rev. Fr. David G. Bonfiglio, Nancy and Grace Bonfiglio and Frances and her husband Alfred Pace.
Her funeral was held from the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Friday, August 17, 2012, at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford at 10:30 AM. Many relatives and friends respectfully attended. Visiting hours were held on Thursday, August 16, 2012, from 3 to 5 PM. Interment was in St. Michael Cemetery, Boston.
