Whitman – Dorothy P. “Dot” (Pennini) Culver 87, a lifelong resident of Whitman, died Monday August 13, 2012 peacefully at home surrounded by her family, after a brave battle with cancer.
Born in Brockton and raised in Whitman she was the daughter of the late Frank and Gladys (Gray) Pennini and a graduate of Whitman High School.
Before her retirement Dot had worked for over 20 years as an inspector for the Balfour Company of Abington & Braintree.
She had enjoyed the many summers spent in Wells, Maine and truly loved the times she spent working with her family where she had become famous for her “fried dough”. She was a talented crafter and had shared many of the crafts she had completed with her numerous family members.
She is survived by her longtime loving and devoted companion of 40 years, Charles Devaney of Whitman, and her loving children Wayne Ridley and his wife Debbie of East Bridgewater, Paul Ridley and his wife Paula of Whitman, and Glen Ridley of Cornish, Maine, her grandchildren Jennifer Benefit, and Heather, Matthew and Daniel Ridley and her great grandchildren Cameron & Avery Benefit. She is also survived by other family members Patti Yule of Brockton, Jean Cuneo of Wareham, Joseph Devaney of N. Smithfield, RI, Marianne, Jimmy and Joey of Maine, Rosie and Bill Wyman of Halifax, Edie Ridley of Pembroke and the late Lyman Culver and Everett Ridley.
