Obituary

Marion H. (Doty) Boyle, 91, of Haverhill, formerly of Malden, on August 10, 2012, after a lengthy and courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease, joined her late husband, William J. Boyle, in the house of our Lord. Beloved mother of Kathleen Stepherson and her husband, Louis of Haverhill, Alendre (Laurie) Brooks of Derry, NH, and the late Donna Glick; loving grandmother of Krissandra (Papoutsis) Thompson, Kimberlee Papoutsis, Tammi (Fales) Martino, "Scott" Fales, Keith Fales, Jennifer (Phelan) Picarello, Craig Fales, Erin (Phelan) Gelinas, and Brianne Stepherson; and great-grandmother of 15; beloved sister of Hazel (Doty) O'Leary, and loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Marion, the fifth child of Frank & Sarah (Palmer) Doty, along with 4 brothers and 4 sisters, was born and raised in Malden. She attended Malden schools until she left to go to work to help support her younger siblings. From a young age, Marion's highest priority was her family; when she had her own children, with no reservations or regrets, she once again selflessly put aside her own needs and worked tirelessly…at home to make sure her girls were taken care of, and also holding down a full-time job at night to make ends meet. Despite the long hours, she still found time to sew and bake and do many little extras for her family. In her lifetime, Marion worked at Schopell's Restaurant and Vogue Doll in Malden, Transitron in Melrose, and at Almy's Department Store in Revere where she met the love of her life, her husband Bill.

After she and Bill were married in 1965, Marion was able to stay at home and, at last, had time to herself to do the things she enjoyed. She baked and decorated cakes for special occasions, sewed, knit, and crafted beautiful and unique items that she loved to share with her family and friends and, sometimes, total strangers who were in need. She and Bill also supported many children's charities, as well as fire and police associations. She also enjoyed car trips with Bill and found she shared his enthusiasm for horse racing, as well.

But the thing Marion truly enjoyed most was time spent with her family, especially with her grandchildren. When their grandkids were young, she and Bill were avid supporters of their sports activities and could almost always be found cheering them on at their games and practices. They were a most-loved part of their grandchildren's everyday lives as well.

While her family deeply mourns the loss of this amazing and loving woman, they celebrate her life and their great good fortune to have been such a cherished part of it. They rejoice at her reunion with our Heavenly Father and with her beloved husband Bill, her oldest daughter Donna, her Mom and Dad, and the many brothers and sisters who were all waiting to welcome her home. Her family invites all who knew her to join in their celebration of her life.
