Carmella L. Baroni of Woburn formerly of Middletown, CT passed away peacefully on August 12th at the Woodbriar of Wilmington Nursing Center at the age of 93. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Dore who passed in 1975 and Michael Baroni who passed in 1994. Born in Boston and raised in East Boston she was the daughter of the late Liberato and Theresa (Velleca) Giardullo.
Carmella graduated from trade school of sewing and design. She worked for many years as a very talented seamstress on Neolone St. in Boston's Garment District prior to her retirement. She enjoyed life to the fullest and enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family, especially her loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. Carmella was always willing to use her talents sewing for her sisters or other family members. Her life was filled with joy and happiness always cooking and baking, cake decorating and knitting. Family was Carmella's primary focus and her strong family values and traditions will always be cherished by those who loved her.
In addition to her late parents and husbands, Carmella is predeceased by her sisters, Rose Grande, Josephine Centofante, Ann Carrozza, and Mary Plagenza, one brother, Toni Abbatessa, and four step sisters, Angie Soldano, Mary Scanzillo, Abbie Manfra and Frances Screma.
She is survived by her devoted and cherished daughter, Annette Overko and her husband Ronald of Tewksbury. She was the loving nonnie of Teresa Doherty and her husband Robert Jr. of Woburn, Ronald Overko Jr. and his wife Jill of Hampstead, NH. She was the loving great nonnie of Adrianna and Nicolette Manzi, Victoria and Michael Overko. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and the family pets Madeline and Daisy.
A funeral mass for Carmella will be celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 280 Main St., WOBURN, Thursday, August 16th, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. There are no calling hours. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Carmella's memory to the American Heart Assoc., 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
