Madeline L. (Valente) Silva, 95, a lifetime resident of Methuen, died peacefully Sunday evening, August 12, 2012 in the Methuen Health and Rehabilitation Center in Methuen.
Madeline, daughter of the late Giacomo and Agnes (Teoli) Valenti, was born in Methuen on February 15, 1917. She attended Methuen schools and graduated from the Edward F. Searles High School in Methuen, class of 1935. Her beloved husband, John J. Silva, Jr., died in 1990.
Prior to her retirement in 1977, Madeline was employed with the former Lesand Shoe Co. of Haverhill. She was also a faithful communicant of St. Lucy Parish in Methuen.
Madeline will be sadly missed by her son, John J. Silva, III and his wife Norma of Methuen; one granddaughter, Cheryl A. Silva of Methuen; one nephew, Edward Athayade and his wife Hazel of Yarmouth; one niece, Mary Agnew and her husband Bob of Salem and one sister-in-law, Rita Silva of Methuen.
It being her request, the funeral will be private and at the convenience of the family. There are no visiting hours.
