Sonja J. (Johnson) Collins, 47, died suddenly and unexpectedly on Saturday, August 11, 2012. She leaves her beloved husband, William "Bill" J. Collins; a daughter, Samantha A. Krause; a son, Airman Jay Krause and his wife Sarah, of New Mexico; her parents, Herbert C. and Martha H. (Haynes) Johnson; two brothers, Steven L. Johnson and his wife Carolyn and Bruce A. Johnson; as well as many nieces and nephews. Her sister Debbie A. Johnson predeceased her in 1991.
Sonja was born in Holden, graduated from Tahanto Regional High School and Quinsigamond College. She worked for many years as a 911 Dispatcher for the Town of Boylston. She also worked as an administrative assistant at Lincoln Nursing Home and Wayside Nursing Home. She was a member of First Congregational Church in Boylston, coached Lassie League, and was a very dedicated hockey mom for her son.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 from 4-7 p.m. in Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St. Worcester, MA 01605. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 16, at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Boylston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to "Debbie Ann Johnson Memorial Fund," Greater Worcester Community Foundation, 370 Main St. #650, Worcester MA 01608-1738.
