Glenn R. Bethune, 47, of Chester, NH died Wednesday August 8, 2012 in his home. He was born in Manchester, NH on July 4, 1965, a son of Jacob and Jean (Wason) Bethune, and had been a resident of Islesboro, ME since 2000. He was a graduate of Pinkerton Academy in Derry, NH, Class of 1983, and graduated from NH Vocational Technical College in Stratham, NH with a two year degree. Glenn was formerly employed as an ASE certified master mechanic for Merchants Rent A Car in Hooksett. He was a member of the NRA, loved the outdoors, the NH Mountains and the Maine shores, and was an avid hiker. Glenn was known to have a kind soul and truly loved all of his family. He was a lifetime animal lover and loved his cat Rascal. A lifelong learner, Glenn was always watching documentaries, and reading; he especially enjoyed Tolkien and Jules Verne. Glenn loved gardening and growing things, had a huge sense of humor, and was a talented woodworker.
In addition to his wife Janice E. (Venner) Bethune of Islesboro; he is survived by his two daughters Stephanie C. Bethune and Emily E. Bethune both of Islesboro, who considered him the "World’s Greatest Dad"; his brother, Brian E. Bethune of Manchester, NH; two sisters, Carol A. Evans of Concord, NH, and Bonnie M. Bethune of New Boston, NH; as well as several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Diane E. Bethune.
Calling hours were held on Monday, August 13th from 5 - 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Following cremation, a graveside service was held on Wednesday, August 15th at 3:00pm in Great Hill Cemetery, Rt. 121A, Chester, NH.
