Birdie Mae Smith, 72, of Clarksville, TN, died on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Gateway Medical Center. She was born on March 28, 1940 in Carouthersville, Missouri to the late Josiah Compton and Leona Harris Compton. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Smith.
Funeral service will be held at a later date at Friendship Baptist Church in Madison, IL.
Birdie was a supervisor for Madison County Housing Authority.
She is survived by three sons, Troy Compton of Inman, SC, Antonio Smith of Inman, SC, and Jermaine Smith of Clarksville, TN; daughter, Leona Smith of Clarksville, TN; sister, Inez Bennett of Madison, IL; eight grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
