Obituary

Hannah M. (Doherty) DeRosa, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, passed into eternal life on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at her home in Charlestown following a lengthy illness. She was 85 years old.

Hannah was born in Boston and grew up in Charlestown where she attended St. Catherine's Parochial School and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1945. Hannah worked for over 25 years in the Quartermasters Department in the Boston Naval Shipyard before its closing.

Hannah is the beloved wife of 64 years to Thomas A. "Dicka" DeRosa Sr. She is the devoted mother of Frances Carroll and her husband Stephen of Stoneham, Anne Marie Murphy and her husband Michael of Stoneham, Thomas A. DeRosa Jr. and his wife Kathy of Charlestown and Joseph DeRosa and his wife Karen of Charlestown. She is the loving Grandmother of 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She is the beloved sister of the late Captain John Doherty U.S.M.C., Philip Doherty, Joseph Doherty, Grace Callahan and Helen Foley. She is the dear friend of Anna Noska and the late Bernadette O'Callahan.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Hannah's Funeral on Monday, August 13, 2012 at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Visiting hours will be on Sunday, August 12, 2012 from 2 to 6 p.m. in the funeral home.
