DUDLEY – Doris F. (Menard) Brothers, 83, of Dudley, died Wednesday, August 8, 2012 in Webster Manor with her family at her side.
She leaves her husband of 61 years, Norman C. Brothers; a son, Curtis N. Brothers and his wife Elizabeth of Dudley; 5 grandchildren, Joshua Brothers and his wife Heather, Katie Karter and her husband Benjamin, Jarrod Brothers, Alyson Brothers and her fiancé Justin Coda, and Patrick Brothers; 2 great grandsons, Jacob and Caleb Karter; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Cecile Galipeau and Marcella Tetreault.
She was born in Detroit, MI, the youngest daughter of Conrad and Donalda (Gemme) Menard. She lived in Granby, Quebec for 17 years before coming to the Webster-Dudley area in 1946.
Mrs. Brothers was a fancy stitcher at various shoe shops, including Webster Shoe Company. She then was an assistant in merchandising at J.C.Penney Company in Sturbridge for many years before she retired in 1990.
She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Webster and its Ladies of Saint Anne. She enjoyed reading, sewing and gardening.
The family would like to express its thanks to the entire third floor staff at Webster Manor for their kindness and gentle care for Doris for the last 18 months.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 21, at 10:30 AM in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 16 East Main Street, Webster. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Webster. There are no calling hours. Donations may be made to either Sacred Heart Parish, 18 East Main Street, or to Saint Anne’s Elementary School, 12 Day St., PO Box 818, both in Webster, MA 01570. Arrangements are under the direction of Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster.
