Evans, Georgia – Mrs. Emma Slagle Burk, 79, widow of the late Gilbert Burk, entered into rest on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Platt’s Belair Road Chapel with the Rev. Rick Slagle officiating. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Burk was a native of Big Stone Gap, Virginia. She had retired from the civil service as a budget analyst.
She is survived by her sons, Lee Barnes (Teresa) and Ed Carlton (Jane), her daughters, Beth Campbell (Rick) and Cathy Gills, her brother, John Slagle, and her sisters, Nell Cooper and Mary Ruth Kiser. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Whitney Barnes, Cory Carlton, Emily Campbell, Cati Swanger, Ashley Gills and Trevor Gills, Johnny Eagle and Adrinne Eagle, as well as her great grandchildren, Jacob Steele, Connor Swanger and Seth Gills.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, August 8, 2012 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM.
