TEWKSBURY - James A. Barron, Jr. died Monday, July 30 at his home in North Tewksbury, surrounded by his family following a courageous battle with cancer. He was 69 years old.
He was the beloved husband and best friend of Patricia (Carrigg) Barron for 34 years. He was born in Newport, RI, son of the late James and the late Cecelia Barron (Murphy) and was raised in Carlisle, Massachusetts.
He was a member of Plumbers & Gasfitters Local 12 Boston for 49 years. He worked in Boston for more than 30 years at work sites including The Prudential, Federal Reserve Bank, the Charles River Dam, the Boston Globe in Dorchester and retired from the Boston Globe in Billerica.
Jim was an avid downhill skier, reader and bicyclist often riding hundreds of miles each week with friends Jeff Foster and Bob Tobey.
He is survived by two children, Jennifer Adler of Franklin, MA; James Barron III and his wife Katie (Stewart) of North Andover; one beloved grandchild, Olivia Adler of Franklin, MA; one sister Eleanor and her husband Mike Gorman of Portland, OR; three brothers, Jonathan and his wife Charline of Harvard, MA; Peter Barron of Savery, WY; Mark Barron and his companion Cheryl Pastorius of Maynard, MA and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Barron.
It was Jim's wish to pass without any memorial service.
Jim was devoted to his family and lived with a joyful heart and gratitude for a full and happy life.
