Obituary

Raymond S. Savickas, 82, of Village Drive, died Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Miriam Hospital. He was the husband of Ruth D. (Molis) Savickas.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he was a son of the late John and Apalonia (Zilius) Savickas. He had lived in Smithfield for 10 years and had previously lived in Providence for 50 years.

He was a member of F.O.P. Lodge No. 3, Providence and the Knights of Lithuania. He had been Past Treasurer and was a Lifetime Member of the American-Lithuanian Club. He was a Korean Navy Veteran.

He is survived by his children: Ruth Pearson and her husband, Stuart of Burrillville, Raymond J. Savickas and his wife, Marguerite, of Cumberland, Russell Savickas and his wife, Carleen of Johnston, Rita Woodcock and her husband Kevin, of Coventry, his nine grandchildren:Heather Farrell and her husband, Russell, Matthew Pearson and his wife, Amy, Leah Garneau and her husband, Jesse, Russell, Kirk, Brandon and Aubrie Savickas, Kevin R. Woodcock and his wife, Chantel and Tyler Woodcock and his seven great grandchildren: Bradey and Mitchell Farrell, Jaylyn and James Benevides, Sophia Garneau and Conor and Cian Pearson. He was the brother of the late Max, John and Ben Savickas. others.

Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 9:30am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial with military honors will follow in RI Veterans Cemetery. Visitation Monday 4-7pm in the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to St. Casimir Church, 350 Smith Street, Providence, RI 02908.
