Obituary

BEVERLY: Gina Marie Mattson, 32, died unexpectedly on Friday, July 27, 2012. She was the beloved and cherished daughter of John W. and Roseanna (Frontiero) Mattson.
Gina was born in Gloucester on December 20, 1979 and resided there for most of her life before moving to Beverly in 2006.
She was a graduate of Gloucester High School class of 1998, where she was a member of the gymnastics team and also was a cheerleader. Gina was a graduate of Salem State College where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in English and her Master’s Degree in Education from Boston University. She taught for various schools in the North Shore area for the past several years. Gina’s career as a teacher was a position that she truly cherished and brought much fulfillment to her life. She recently worked as an instructor at Exxcel Gymnastics in Newton as well as several local gymnastic clubs. She truly enjoyed sharing her passion and knowledge with her students. Her love for gymnastics started as a little girl and continued throughout her life.
An enthusiastic and gifted writer, she was currently in the waiting process of getting two of her books published. She was a fervent reader and enjoyed books on various subjects. She took several trips to California, where she especially enjoyed Southern California. She had hoped to make her home there one day. She also loved to spend time at the beaches in Beverly, where she liked to read and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the ocean.
Gina recently became a member of the Dane Street Church. She participated in their bible study group and found much comfort recently in all she was learning from the church. She found great pleasure in entertaining in her home for the holidays and most recently shared the 4th of July with her family.
In addition to her parents, Gina is survived by her two loving brothers, Anthony J. Mattson of Haverhill and Michael A. Mattson of Portland, ME, currently serving in the U.S. Coast Guard; her paternal grandmother, Esther A. Mattson of Gloucester; her maternal grandmother, Virginia Frontiero of Gloucester; her beloved godparents, Grace Marie and her husband, Mike Ciaramitaro and Gracelyn M. Burby all of Gloucester; many aunts, uncles and cousins; her cherished and special friends, Eddie Martin of Wilmington and Jason Dillon of Nashville, TN and her cat “Sycamore” who meant the world to her. She was also predeceased by her infant sister, Melissa Ann Mattson, maternal grandfather, Anthony J. Frontiero whom she adored and cherished; her uncle, Roger T. Mattson.
Her funeral service will be held on Thursday in the Calvary Cemetery, Eastern Ave, (Rt. 127) Gloucester at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Please omit flowers. Arrangements are under the direction of the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot St., Beverly.
