Robert W.E. "Spike" Pilling, 83, of Pembroke, died July 24 after battling a long term illness. He was born and raised in South Boston, and moved to Pembroke in 1969. He was the son of the late Waldo and Kathleen ( Will) Pilling. Father of Kathleen Shaw and her husband Doug of Pembroke, Robert Pilling, Jr. and Daniel Pilling both of Pembroke, Vicki Parker and her husband Ted of Avon, and the late Sharon George and her husband the late Paul George.Brother of Donald Pilling of CA, Ann Ayers of WA, Sandra Hennis of FL and the late Leon Pilling and the late Kathleen Norton. Former husband of the late Frances Pilling and the late Beverly Pilling. He is also survived by many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his longtime loving friend Elizabeth Snyder of Halifax.
Robert was a proud Navy Veteran. He was employed for many years at St. Johnsburg Trucking Co. ans he was a school bus driver for the city of Quincy.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Sat. Aug. 4 at Our Lady of the Lake Church, Monponsett St. (Rt. 58) Halifax at 9:00AM. Burial will be private.
