Achilles C. Sperduti, 85, of Swansea passed away peacefully, Sunday, July 22, 2012 at Country Gardens Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was husband of the late Anita (Belmore) Sperduti.
Born in Providence, RI, he was son of the late Pietro and Anna (Criscuoli) Sperduti. A veteran of WWII, he served his country in the United States Navy. Prior to retirement, he was employed at Firestone in Fall River and also American Optics in Providence. He was a Communicant of St. Dominic’s Church, Swansea. An avid golfer and bowler, he won many awards. Mr. Sperduti was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Swansea, where he served as a past grand knight and as a leader in fellowship he and his wife Anita arranged frequent dinner and dancing events. He attended Mass on Saturday so that he could play cards on Sunday morning with his fellow Knights. His legacy as a loyal, compassionate and honest man are a testament of his fidelity of 60 years of marriage to his late wife Anita.
Survivors include 2 sons: Ronald Therriault and his wife Carol of Jacksonville, FL and George Sperduti of Ocala, FL; a daughter: Wendy L. Ray and her husband Frank of Westport; a brother: Reginald Sperduti of Spring, TX; 2 sisters: Adriana Darcy of Somerset and Verna Perry of Prescott Valley, AZ; 4 grandchildren: Frankie Ray IV, Nicole Castonguay-Maher, Troy Therriault and Terry Therriault; 3 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was grandfather of the late Tracy Therriault.
Memorial service for both Mr. and Mrs. Sperduti will be Saturday, August 11, 2012 at St. Dominic’s Church, Swansea at 9:30 A.M.
