Obituary

HOLMES - Robert A. Holmes, 81, passed away July 27, 2012. He was a native and life-long resident of Jacksonville, FL.
He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Cathedral where he served as an usher. He was also active with Prison Ministry and the Downtown Ecumenical Services Council. Bob delivered flowers from the Alter of St. Johns to shut-in for 20 years.
He first attended St. John's Cathedral as a boy living at the Keystone Orphanage owned by St. John's Cathedral which was located on the grounds of what is now The Episcopal High School of Jacksonville.
After graduating Landon High School Bob joined the U. S. Army. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, the Combat Infantry Badge as well as other decorations.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, August 10, at St. John's Episcopal Cathedral with The Reverend Perry Smith officiating. Interment of Bob's cremated remains will follow in the Bishop's Gardens at St. John's.
Continuing with Bob's life-long desire to give, friends are asked to make memorial donations to the St. John's Cathedral Sanctuary Guild in lieu of flowers.
