SPRINGFIELD – Paul A. Berrouard, 61, of the Hungry Hill section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, July 26, 2012. He was born in Springfield on February 6, 1951, a beloved son of the late Albert J. Berrouard, who was Called Home on July 28, 2004 and Lillian I. (Remillard) Berrouard, who was Called Home on February 16, 2005. He was raised in Springfield, graduated from Cathedral High School in 1969, and was a lifelong resident of the city. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and attained the rank of Specialist Fourth Class. He was employed as a postal clerk with the United States Postal Service and had worked at the Bulk Mail Center in the Indian Orchard section of Springfield. Previously, he had worked as a clerk at the Stop and Shop Supermarket in Springfield. He was a communicant of Mary, Mother of Hope Church in East Springfield. He was a member of the Sunday bowling league at Chicopee Fair Lanes Bowl, was an avid New York Giants and New York Yankees fan, enjoyed playing cards, especially pitch, and had fun with his friends with the fantasy baseball leagues that he participated in. He leaves his loving sister, Susan M. Fern and her husband, Peter, of Southampton, MA; his loving brother, Alan J. Berrouard, and his wife, Martha, of Granby, MA; his cherished nephew and nieces, Jeffrey Weyant of Westfield, Amy Pasini and her husband, Michael, of Scituate, MA and Audrey Berrouard of Granby; his cherished grand nephew and grand nieces, Michael, Alyssa and Julia Pasini; and his many dear aunts and uncles. His funeral will be held on Wednesday morning, August 1, 2012, beginning at the St. Pierre - Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. His Committal Service with Army Military Honors will follow the Mass at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Because of his love for children, his family has requested that memorial donations be made in his memory to Griffin’s Friends, c/o Baystate Health Foundation, 280 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01199.
