Obituary

E.R. “Pete” Roberts, 87, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died May 11, 2004 at his home.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Thursday, May 13, 2004, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald, Georgia, with Rev. Steve Waldorf and Rev. James Hubbard officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7:00 until 9:00 Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. Roberts was born November 13, 1916 in Ben Hill County, Georgia to the late James Marvin and Magnolia Barnes Roberts. He was retired owner/operator of Pete Roberts Grocery Store and a retired Rural Letter Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. Mr. Roberts was an Army Veteran of World War II and a recipient of a Purple Heart for injuries received in the Solomon Islands. He was a member of the Coffee Club at McDonald’s and the Central United Methodist Church where he was a lifetime member of the Administrative Board and a member of the Carlisle Sunday School Class.

Mr. Roberts is survived by his wife: Geraldine Berry Roberts, Tifton; two daughters: Brenda Parrish, Fitzgerald and Jill McClure, Cypress, TX; one grandson: Greg Parrish, Ft. Myers, FL; one step-son: Bill Berry, Lilburn; two sisters: Bonnie R. MacAllister, St. Simons Island, GA and Frances R. Beck, Fitzgerald; one brother: Jim Roberts, Duncanville, TX; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eunice Bailey Roberts, two sisters, and one brother.
