FALL RIVER… John Coelho, 81 of Fall River, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at the Highlander Nursing Home.
He was the husband of Bernadette M. (Bernier) Coelho.
Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Jose and Rosaline (Ferreira) Coelho and had been a lifelong resident of this city.
Mr. Coelho attended B.M.C. Durfee High School. He worked for 38 years as a meat cutter for Pleasant Market here in Fall River. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching the New York Yankees, and had been on many bowling leagues in the past. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Along with his loving wife, survivors include 2 daughters: Ann Marie Coelho of Cranston, RI, and Jeanne Marie Ferreira and her husband Michael of Bristol, RI, 2 sons: John J. Coelho and his wife Jean of North Providence, RI, and Robert P. Coelho and his companion Christine of Fall River, 3 grandchildren: Caylee, Benjamin and Abigail, and his cousin Irene Gouveia of Fall River.
Services to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Saturday July 28, 2012 at 9 AM from the SOUTH COAST FUNERAL HOME, 1555 Pleasant St. Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Espirito Santo Church, Alden St. Fall River. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours will be Friday from 5 – 8 PM. In lieu of flowers donations in Mr. Coelho’s name may be made to Espirito Santo Church
