TEWKSBURY – William L. “Bill” Perkins, age 83, died Sunday afternoon, July 22, at his Tewksbury home, surrounded by his loving family, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Betty I. (Westaway) Perkins, who died in 2004.
He was born in Chelsea, April 21, 1929, a son of the late Frederick and Lillian (Allen) Perkins. He enlisted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and served in Korea as a motor pool mechanic. Upon his honorable discharge, he began a 39 year career at the Continental Can Company, formerly in Malden, as a machine mechanic.
He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, David W. Perkins and his wife Linda (Ryan) of Merrimack, NH, John E. Perkins and his wife Donna (Grady) of Billerica, Steven M. Perkins and his wife Christine (Farrell) of Tewksbury; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy J. Pilon and her husband Craig of Billerica; eleven grandchildren, Jennifer, Tim, Stacey, Kristen, Kimberly, Amy, Jessica, Shawn, Joshua, Michelle, and Steven; five great grandchildren, Suzie, Ryan, Addison, Sarah, and Sonja; and many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Service was held Wednesday morning, July 25, in the funeral home, followed by burial with Army Honors at Tewksbury Cemetery.
