WORCESTER-Mary E. (Carmody) Britt, 86, of Worcester died Sunday, July 22nd at home. Her husband of 38 years, Herbert R. Britt died in 1987. She leaves three sons, Francis M. Britt and his wife, Patricia of Worcester, Timothy H. Britt of Sutton and Stephen N. Britt and his wife, Priscilla of Saylorsburg, PA; a daughter, Mary C. Bernard and her companion Anthony Chronchio of Worcester; a brother, Nicholas Carmody of Englewood, FL; two sisters, Ann E. Hanlon of South Yarmouth and Elizabeth King and her husband, Thomas of Madison, CT; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Everett and Francis Carmody.
Mrs. Britt was born in Worcester the daughter of Nicholas and Mary (Bermingham) Carmody. She worked in Worcester Savings and Loan for many years before retiring. Mrs. Britt was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church. She was a retired reading aide for the Worcester Public School and was a foster care provider. Mary enjoyed line dancing at the senior center.
Mary’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Ron Hoffman with Compassionate Care ALS the staff at UMASS Memorial Hospice, Angela Liseno who was her home health aide for many years and Joe from Meals on Wheels for their compassion and care during Mary’s illness.
Her funeral is Wednesday, July 25th from O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Tuesday, July 24th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
