Steven Moniz, 40, a lifelong resident of Adamsville, RI died Wednesday, July 18, 2012. He was the beloved son of Harry and Nancy (Frias) Moniz.
Steven was a 1990 graduate of Middletown High School and worked as a custodian for the Little Compton School Department for 21 years. Steven was an avid hunter and farmer. He carried on the Moniz Farm tradition by growing and selling vegetables at the “Farm Stand” for the past 10 years, welcoming the honor system. He was proud (deservedly so) of his quality tomatoes, asparagus and John Deere 60. “Little Harry”, as he was called, was a World War II buff, enjoyed bluegrass music and Harbor cruises at dusk to see the nature and wildlife.
Steve is survived by his parents, brothers Gary and Dana, sister-in-law Karen, nephews Danny and Jason and many friends. He will be missed.
A funeral service will be held at Potter Funeral Home on Monday, July 23 at 10 AM followed by burial at Pleasant View Cemetery, Tiverton.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 5-8 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Steve’s honor may be made to Paws Watch Rhode Island, P.O. Box 3711, Newport, RI 02840.
