Etta Waldon McKinnon, age 88, of Douglas, GA passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at home following an extended illness. Mrs. McKinnon was born on February 15, 1924 to the late John Mitchell Waldon and Elle Smith Waldon.
Mrs. McKinnon is survived by: three daughters, Evelyn (Daniel) Whitley, of Maggie Valley, NC, Ruth (J.W.) Hicks, of Douglas, GA and JoAnn (Nolan) Courson, of Douglas, GA; two sons, Ed (Cheryl) McKinnon, of Jacksonville, FL and Herman (Kathy) McKinnon, of Easley, SC; one sister, Dot Ward, of Cove Springs, GA; eighteen grandchildren, forty-six great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband Orville McKinnon of sixty-seven years, mother and father Elle and John Waldon, a daughter Helen (Puddin) McKinnon, and a grandson James (Jamie) Edwin McKinnon, Jr.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 20, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home with Rev. H.P. Murray officiating. Eulogy by daughter JoAnn M. Courson. Interment will follow at Satilla Memorial Gardens. Music will be furnished for the service by CD’s “Knowing What I Know About Heaven”, “I’ll See You Soon”, “Come Home Its Suppertime”, and “I Sure Miss You”.
