NATICK: Russell E. Dame, 66, died comfortably on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at the Massachusetts General Hospital following a period of declining health.
He was born in Framingham on June 12, 1946 the son of the late George W. Dame and Anna C. (Crockett) Dame.
Russell is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 43 years, Maureen F. (MacLean) Dame of Natick. Beloved father of Jeffrey E. Dame and his partner Elizabeth O’Neill of Ashland and Matthew W. Dame and his wife Alicia of Billerica. Brother of Christine L. Dame of Bellingham and the late Warren G. Dame. Cherished Papa of Kyle Dame, Karyssa Dame, Meg Dame, Isaac Dame, Isadora Dame and Kate Francis. He was the son-in-law of Frances (Sumner) MacLean of Natick. He also leaves his former daughter-in-law Debra Dame. Also survived by several nieces and nephews and the O’Brien children who also called him Papa.
Russell has been a longtime resident of Natick and graduated from Natick High School with the Class of 1965. He served his country proudly during the Vietnam Era with the United States Air Force. He retired after over 35 years of dedicated service as a Service Technician with Belmont Springs in Belmont. He loved to coach his sons in the youth soccer and football programs in Natick in their younger years. He was a model train enthusiast and also enjoyed spending time fishing on Lake Cochituate. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather to his family and will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitations will be held on Sunday, July 22, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM in the Bryant Memorial Chapel of the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte 30), Cochituate Village, Wayland.
His funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Monday, July 23, 2012 at the funeral home.
Interment will be private for his family at Dell Park Cemetery at a later date.
