Obituary

Joseph Mete, 85, of North Providence, formerly of Smithfield, died Monday, July 16, 2012 at Cortland Place after a long illness. He was the husband of the late Lorraine A. (Thivierge) Stubbs.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Francesco and Rosina (Audino) Mete. He was an accomplished saxophone and clarinet musician and had worked in sales and general contracting. He had served in the US Army.

The family would like to thank the Anthony Caron Family of Smithfield for their friendship, love and personal care during Joe’s long-term illness.

He is survived by his son, Greg Mete and his wife, Margaret, his grandchildren: Jennifer, Greg, Jr., Matthew and Michael, a great grandson, Cody and a stepson, Thomas Frechette and a daughter-in-law Vickie Mete. He was the father of the late Jay Mete, brother of the late John, Julia and Elana and stepfather of the late Terri Frechette.

A memorial service will be held Friday, July 20, 2102 at 3pm in St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial private. Visitation respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to St. Thomas Episcopal Church Altar Guild, PO Box 505, Greenville, RI 02828
