John T. Crowell, 90 of Plymouth formerly of Scituate, South Dennis and Brockton. Died at the Newfield House on July 15. Beloved husband for 55years of Elizabeth J. “Betty” (Coleman) Crowell of Plymouth. Loving father of Betsy Worthley and her husband Steven Worthley Sr. of Summerville, SC. Brother of Richard Crowell of Pembroke his sister Marilyn C. Stewart of Duxbury, and the late Thomas F. and Morton F. Jr. Grandfather of Kimberly Bergman, Steven Worthley Jr. and Brianna Worthley. He also leaves 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
John grew up in Brockton the son of Morton F. and Frances (Robitaille) Crowell. He graduated from Brockton Schools and Thayer Academy and graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in 1947.John was a registered Massachusetts Architectural and Structural Engineer and worked for Stone and Webster Engineering Corp. for 37 years.
John served in the US Navy during WWII earning the rank of Lt. (jg) serving in the Asiatic Pacific. John was a member of St. George Masonic Lodge in Brockton, Sigma X: The Scientific Research Society. He served on the South Dennis Historical Commission for 6 years. He was a member of Christ Congregational Church in Brockton and Christ Church Episcopal in Harwich Port. John enjoyed travel with his wife Betty to England, Caribbean and Bermuda.
A memorial service will be held at the Richard Davis Funeral Home 373 Court St. (rte 3A) N. Plymouth on Thursday July 19 at 11:00 AM with visitation at 10:00 AM a Masonic Service will be held at 10:30 AM. Burial will be at the Vine Hills cemetery Plymouth. Donations in his memory may be made to a charity of your choice
