Gladys M. DeMasi, a resident of Medford for many years passed away peacefully on July 17th with her family by her side following a short illness. She was 82 years of age. Born in Randolph on January 27, 1930 she was the daughter of the late Pearl (Urquhart) and George Anderson. Gladys was the beloved wife of the late Lido O. DeMasi.
Gladys was member of the 1948 graduating class of Stoneham High School. In more recent years she enjoyed attending bingo with her friends and also enjoyed the occasional trip to Foxwoods Casino. She was an avid sports fan but her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and especially being with her grandchildren whom she cherished.
She is survived by her children, Thomas J. DeMasi of Medford, Karen E. DeMasi-Caron and her husband Mark Caron of Tewksbury. She was the loving grandmother of Christopher Caron, Thomas J. DeMasi Jr., and Sydney May DeMasi. Sister of Laura Giles of North Carolina, the late Albert Anderson, Evelyn Bayliss and Carolyn Quinno. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Warren DeMasi and his wife Ann of Wakefield and dear friend Evelyn Federico of Medford.
Funeral services will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD, Friday, July 20th, at 11:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High St., Medford, at 12 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and visit with the family at the funeral home prior to the service from 9 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Jimmy Fund, c/o Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.
