Obituary

Noella T. Beaudet 88, of Mendon Rd. died July 13th at the Ballou Home. She was the wife of the late Omer “Ben” Beaudet. Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Henri and Georgianna (Cormier) Picard. Noella was a spinner in several area textile mills. She lived in CA from 1952 to 1964 before returning to Woonsocket. She owned the former Noella’s Luncheonette and The Feedbag in Woonsocket. Noella and her husband Ben loved to entertain; she sang and played the washboard and spoons at nursing homes, on bus trips and at private parties. After their retirement they spent their time as vendors at local flea markets. She and her husband were the French Canadian Tradition Representatives for the 1976 Bicentennial Celebration put on by the Smithsonian in Washington DC. She served as the President of the Kennedy Manor Club for many years. Noella was an avid bingo player and enjoyed the one-armed bandit.

She is survived by a daughter Susan Beaudet of Northbridge, MA, a son James Beaudet of Redondo Beach, CA, a brother Henry Picard Jr. of Burrillville, two sisters, Beatrice Plante and Bertha Pace both of Woonsocket, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Maurice Beaudet, a brother, Edmond Picard, and a sister, Eva Dufresne.

Her funeral will be held Thursday at 9:00 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in All Saints Church, Rathbun St. Woonsocket. Burial will follow in Precious Blood Cemetery. Visiting hours are Wednesday 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers donations to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, PO Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265-0309 in her memory would be appreciated.
