Obituary

William L. Coomey, 87, of Worcester, died Sunday, July 15th in St. Francis Home. His wife of 27 years, Julia A. (Duffy) Coomey, died in 1982. He leaves three sons, William J. Coomey of Oklahoma City, OK, Kevin T. Coomey of Agawam, and Daniel P. Coomey of Shrewsbury; four daughters, Judith A. Mulrooney of Fall River, Mary M. Cassanelli of Mashpee, Catherine B. Coomey of Worcester, and Margaret A. Halvorson of North Brookfield; eleven grandchildren; a great granddaughter; nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters, John, Patrick, and Mary Coomey, and Margaret Gingras.

He was born in Worcester, the son of William P. and Bridget A. (Mansfield) Coomey and was a security officer for the City of Worcester before retiring. Mr. Coomey was a member of Christ the King Parish and was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

The funeral is Tuesday, July 17th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 11:00 A.M. in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. A visiting hour is from 9:30 until 10:30 A.M. Tuesday in the funeral home.
