Edward P. Sullivan
Longtime Tewksbury Youth Sports Coach and Advocate
TEWKSBURY: Edward P. Sullivan, age 50, a lifelong Tewksbury resident and longtime Tewksbury Youth Sports Coach and Advocate, passed away Friday, July 13, 2012, at the Lowell General Hospital.
He was the beloved husband of Joan "Boukie" (MacArthur) Sullivan, with whom he would have celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary on September 5, 2012.
Born in Stoneham on August 8, 1961, he was the son of the late Robert P. Sullivan and the late Susan A. (McLaughlin) Sullivan.
Ed attended Tewksbury Public Grammar Schools and the former St. Stanislaus Parochial Grammar School in Lowell. He graduated from Middlesex School in Concord in 1979. Following graduation, he attended Syracuse University, where he received his degree in Economics in 1983.
Since the day he was old enough to carry a hammer, Ed worked in the residential construction field. Together with his late father, Ed constructed and remodeled numerous homes throughout Greater Lowell, Southern New Hampshire and Essex County.
An avid sportsman, Ed enjoyed playing a round of golf at Longmeadow Golf Club and Tewksbury Country Club, hunting, fishing, skiing , horse racing and the outdoors.
Ed enjoyed a passion for youth sports. He served as Vice President of the Tewksbury Youth Baseball Program, was a founder of the Tewksbury Challenger Baseball League, was currently coaching the Tewksbury U-17 All-Star Baseball Team, coached the "Chiefs" and the "Mohawks" in the Tewksbury Youth Football Program and also served as Secretary for the Tewksbury Youth Basketball Program.
He was a member of the Longmeadow Golf Club and the Tewksbury-Wilmington Elks # 2070.
In addition to his wife, Ed is survived by his children, Connor P. and Sarah A. Sullivan both of Tewksbury; one brother, James M. Sullivan and his wife Stacy (Dannacher) of Marblehead; one sister, Cyndi Sullivan Scarano and her husband Robert G. Scarano of Tewksbury; his mother-in-law, Joan (Kelley) MacArthur of Tewksbury and his late father-in-law, Nelson P. MacArthur; also many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, July, 17, from 4-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. His funeral will be held Wednesday, July 18, at 9 a.m., from the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 a.m., at St. Williams Church 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery.
