George R. “Gigi” Bardaro, A lifelong Medford resident passed away peacefully, Friday, July 13th, in his home following a short illness. He was 83 years of age. He was the beloved husband of the late Eva R. (Pastore). Born in Medford he was one of six children of the late Mary (Ranzino) and Salvatore Bardaro.
“Gigi”, as he was affectionately known to his family and friends, was a graduate of Medford High School where he was an outstanding lineman on the football team. Following high school he enlisted in the United States Army and honorably served during World War II along with his five brothers. Upon his return home he was appointed to the Medford Fire Department and faithfully served the people of Medford for many years. He attained the rank of Captain and retired in 1981 as the Acting Deputy Chief.
He is survived by his devoted children, Nancy Camarata and her husband Mark, Paul Bardaro and his wife Camille (Arena) all of Medford. He was the loving grandfather of Mark Camarata Jr., Anthony Bardaro, Alicia Cerasuolo and her husband Nicholas. He is also survived by brother John “Salvi” Bardaro of San Francisco. In addition to his wife and parents he predeceased by his sister, the late Filomena Balchunis, and brothers, the late Francis, Eugene, and Anthony Bardaro.
A traditional Latin Mass will be celebrated in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD, Tuesday, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday 5 - 8. Services will conclude with military honors and burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent in George’s name to the Friends of Francis Food Pantry, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, MA 02155.
