Obituary

NATICK: Jacqueline (Davies) Cameron, age 85, a longtime resident of Natick, died peacefully on Thursday morning, July 12, 2012, at Parmenter’s Wayside Hospice at the Miriam Boyd Parlin Residence in Wayland. She was the beloved wife of Bruce Cameron.

Born in Boston on April 30, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Louise (Nielsen) Davies. A graduate of the Boston Public Schools, she was then employed for many years as a teller with Shawmut Bank in Boston.

Jacqueline and Bruce were married in 1951 and lived briefly in Brighton and North Reading prior to settling in Natick in 1959. Jacqueline returned to the work force when her children were grown, first in the business office at Leonard Morse Hospital and then as the manager of Dr. Greenberg’s office. She later held the position of office manager for SMA Construction, from which she retired.

Jacqueline had a passion for animals; adoring her many pets as well as the surrounding wildlife. The various creatures visiting her yard responded to her kindness and she often nurtured those that were injured or hungry. Her many loves included her wonderful neighbors, classic cars, cooking, gardening, reading, and watching Red Sox and Patriots games. Jacqueline faced her diagnosis with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma fourteen years ago with characteristic strength and individualism, choosing to maintain her health mostly through alternative medicine, exercise and diet. Her strong will allowed her to not only maintain a great quality of life for many years but also gave her the grace to meet her death with dignity.

She was predeceased by her son, Bruce D. Cameron, and is survived by her husband, Bruce; a daughter, Thayne L. Cameron of Natick; two sons, Robert D. Cameron of Franklin, and Mark A. Cameron and wife Melissa of Natick; four grandchildren, Benjamin, Tyler, Ryan, and Jack; a great-grandson, Cameron; and a niece, Ann Gordon of FL. She was also the sister of the late Louise Gordon and Florence Johnson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Linus Church, 119 Hartford Street, Natick, on Friday, July 20th at 9:00a.m. Burial will follow at Dell Park Cemetery.

Donations may be made in Jacqueline’s memory to the Parmenter’s Wayside Hospice, 266 Cochituate Way, Wayland, MA 01778.
