Obituary


Gregory R. “Greg” Santos, age 63, passed away on Wednesday evening at The Groton Regency, after an extended illness. He was the son of the late Alfred T. And Mary (Correira) Santos.

Greg was a lifelong resident of Mystic, he attended Stonington High School and studied architecture at Ellis Technical School in Danielson, CT. Greg owned and operated a store “My Store” in downtown Mystic, where he put to use his talents for building and repairing wood furniture.

His passion was photography. He had enormous patience, sometimes waiting hours for the right photo opportunity of his subjects, whether they were human, butterflies, birds, bugs or flowers. His extensive collection will be shown locally at a future date.

Greg leaves behind his brother Tom Santos, Dara Karas (affectionately known as his “little sister)of Pawcatuck, and his great nephew Cody C. Santos, also of Pawcatuck.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Marion and Mary Santos, maternal grandparents Joseph and Edna Correira, and his beloved nephew Todd C. Santos.

The Santos Family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the Groton Regency Staff for their wonderful and devoted care of Greg over the years he resided there. Their affection and kindness will be forever remembered.

Greg's family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Wednesday, July 18th from 3-4pm. Burial will be private.
