Manuel Joaquim Pereira, age 88 of Somerset passed away at home July 11, 2012. Born in Capelas, São Miguel, Açores, he was the husband of Inez (Capeto Vasconcellos) Pereira and son of the late Francisco Joaquim Pereira and Eliza (Cordeiro Medeiros) Pereira. Manuel had worked in the maintainance dept. at the Foxboro Co. and for Pontes Excavation. He was a parishioner of St. John of God Church.
He was the father of Humberto “Herbie” Pereira (wife Laurinda), Joe Pereira (wife Donna) both of Somerset and the late Mary Natalie Ledo and father-in-law of Antonio Ledo of Swansea; brother of the late Arthur Joaquim Pereira, Vicente Joaquim Pereira and Maria De Estrela Pereira; grandfather of 5, great grandfather of 3 and an uncle to many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St., Fall River SATURDAY at 9 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John of God Church at 10 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick cemetery, Somerset. Calling hours FRIDAY 5-9 P.M. www.rogersfuneral.com
