CHURCH - Bill "Pops" Church, 82, of Kingsland, GA passed away Tuesday morning, July 10, 2012 in St. Marys, GA. Mr. Church was born May 11, 1930 in Harveyton, KY and moved to Kingsland four years ago from Fernandina Beach, FL.
He was a Korean War Veteran serving with the U. S. Navy. Mr. Church was a member of Hidden Treasures Assembly of God. He taught Sunday school and was a volunteer with the nursing home ministry. In his youth he was an Eagle Scout. He was a member of the Boy Scouts Council of the Arrow and later became a Boy Scout troop leader. Mr. Church loved his family and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed being a mentor to his children. He also enjoyed playing the banjo and taking part in church activites.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Pauline Church of Kingsland, GA; two sons, Terry Church (Dana) of Fernandina Beach, FL and Jeffery Church of Kingsland, GA; a daughter and son in law, Vennica and Clinton Bridges of Kingsland, GA; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, including nephew, Ted Messer.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 13, at Green Pine Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Green Pine Funeral Home.
