Danny Diego DiGirolamo, age 85, of Woburn passed away peacefully on July 8th at the Kindred Hospital in Peabody following a short illness. Danny was the beloved husband of Stella (Cefalo) DiGirolamo and together they shared 53 years of marriage. Born in Marsala, Sicily, Italy he was the son of the late Biagio and Paola (Rallo) DiGirolamo.
Danny was a Woburn resident for nearly 45 years. He was a proud veteran and honorably served as a Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, he worked for many years as a custom drapery manufacturer. He was the former owner and operator of the Stitch Craft Drapery Work Room and over the years had shops in several communities in the Boston area. Danny was a hard worker and was very devoted to his craft. He was also an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed following European Soccer and as a young man he played semi-professional soccer in the Boston. Mostly devoted to his loving family, He cherished spending time with his wife, children and especially his grandchildren.
Along with his beloved wife, He is survived by his children, Lisa Neyman and her husband James of Winchester, David DiGirolamo and his wife Michelle of Woburn. He was the loving Papa of Daniel, Amanda and Vivian Neyman, Massimo, Angelina and Lucia DiGirolamo. He is also survived by his brother Angelo DiGirolamo of Boston and is further survived by several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother, the late Joseph DiGirolamo, and his sister, the late Vita LaVecchia.
Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Friday, July 13th, at 11 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Barbara Church, 138 Cambridge Rd., Woburn, at 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family Friday morning prior to the service from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Interment services will be private. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Danny's memory to American Heart Assoc., 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
