Daniel F. Brady, 72, of Norton, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 8, 2012 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. He was the beloved husband of the late Elsie L. (Jenkins) Brady who died on December 27, 1997.
Born in Attleboro, MA on June 16, 1940, he was a loving son of the late Daniel F. Brady and Marion T. (Falke) Henderson. Dan grew up in Attleboro and was a 1958 graduate of Attleboro High School.
On August 12, 1958 he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He proudly served his country for eight years prior to be honorably discharged on August 11, 1966 with the rank of Staff Sergeant.
While serving in the Air Force, he was a chief hydraulic engineer on Air Force Two and had the distinction of personally meeting both President John F. Kennedy and President Lyndon B. Johnson.
A retired facilities maintenance manager, Mr. Brady had worked at the former Texas Instruments in Attleboro for 30 years prior to retiring.
Dan also continued his education and received an associates degree with honors in science from Fisher Junior College in 1985, and later received a bachelors degree in business management from Stonehill College in 1994.
A resident of Norton for the past 45 years, Mr. Brady’s favorite times were those spent in the presence of his adoring family, especially with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed camping, recreation vehicles, family cookouts and skydiving. Dan was always willing to help out others and will always be remembered for his charitable nature.
He is survived by his devoted children; Linda D. Shaw of Florida, Georgianna “Jo” Lacasse, John G. Brady and Regina K. Del Corio all of South Carolina and Scott T. Brady of Norton. He was the dear brother of Patricia A. Haynes of Attleboro and the late William J. Brady, and is also survived by his cherished 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday, July 13th at 11:00 A.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton. Burial with military honors will follow in the Norton Common Cemetery, Norton.
Visiting hours are omitted. In lieu of flowers, Dan’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701-1803.
