Obituary

WESTON: Dorothy E. (Riopel) Mercuri, 89, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, July 6, 2012.
She was born in Worcester on October 5, 1922 the daughter of the late William H. Riopel and Elizabeth L. (Lavalle) Riopel.
Mrs. Mercuri was the wife for 56 years of the late Albert R. Mercuri who died on October 11, 2009. She was the devoted mother of Louis A. Mercuri and his wife Rebecca of Weston; Lisa A. Cohen and her husband Neal of Marblehead and Maria L. O’Connor and her husband James of Amesbury. Grandmother of Gregory and Kayla Mercuri and Sarah and David Cohen. Sister of Jean Ethier of Worcester and Claire Merchant of Charlton. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Mercuri has been a resident of Weston for over 53 years and previously resided in Brookline and Newton. She spent her formative years in Worcester and was a graduate of Worcester Holy Name High School with the Class of 1940. In her earlier years she was employed by the Capitol Theater and Hebert Candies of Worcester. In her later years she was employed by Regis College in Weston. She was also affiliated with Green Power and Land Sakes Farm in Weston and Blue Heron Farm in Lincoln. Her many hobbies and interests included baking, organic gardening, bird watching and making preserves. She won a first prize blue ribbon for her raspberry jam at the Codman Farm Fall Festival. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother to her family and will be greatly missed.
Visitations will be held on Friday, July 13, 2012 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Route 30), Wayland.
On Saturday, July 14, 2012 family and friends are requested by her family to go directly to St. Julia’s Church, 374 Boston Post Road, Weston Center for her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM.
Interment will follow in the Mercuri family lot in Linwood Cemetery in Weston.
