Lillian R. (Whalen) Crowley, a 6 year resident of Somerville and former longtime resident of Charlestown, passed into eternal life on Friday, July 6, 2012 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following a brief illness. She was 87 years old.
Lillian was born in Boston on April 7, 1925, a daughter of the late James Whalen and Mabel (Burns) Whalen. Lillian grew up in Charlestown and attended the Boston Public School system. Lillian worked as a cook at a local restaurant for over 10 years.
Lillian is the beloved wife of the late Daniel J. Crowley. She is the devoted mother of James Whalen and his wife Marsha of Tilton, New Hampshire, George Whalen of Winthrop and Edward Whalen and his fiance Lisa McGrath of Everett. She is the loving Nana to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is the beloved sister of the late Helen Killeen, Evelyn Young, Irene White and James Whalen.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Lillian's visiting hours on Tuesday morning, July 10, 2012 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
