Wayne Purvis, 60, of the Gladys Community in Berrien County, Georgia, died Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10 A.M., Friday, May 7, 2004, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Alapaha, Georgia, with Father Alfonzo Gutierrez officiating. Interment will follow in Fletcher Cemetery, Alapaha. Visitation will be held from 7:00 until 9:00, Thursday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mr. Purvis was born November 14, 1943, in Irwin County, Georgia, to Myrtle Purvis and the late Homer Purvis. He lived in the community most of his life. Mr. Purvis was a Barber and operated Purvis Package Store in Gladys. He was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Alapaha.
Mr. Purvis is survived by his wife: Carolyn Griffin Purvis; two sons and daughters-in-law: Wayne, Jr. and Katherleen Purvis, and Michael and Melinda Purvis; mother: Myrtle Purvis; two grandchildren: Chris and Kathy Purvis; all of the Gladys Community in Berrien County; one brother: Jimmy K. Purvis, Albany, GA
