Ronald W. Bernard, 64, of Bedford, died July 4, 2012 surrounded by his family at Community Hospice House in Merrimack after a long battle with cancer.
He was born in Methuen, MA on April 28, 1948 to Raymond and Gertrude (LaCharite) Bernard. He grew up in Methuen and earned a bachelor’s degree from New Hampshire College. He has lived in Bedford for many years.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1967 to 1970.
Mr. Bernard worked as a computer programmer and energy auditor for Public Service Company of New Hampshire for many years.
He coached at Bedford Little League for several years and enjoyed woodworking and furniture building.
The family includes his wife of 39 years, Nancy E. (Shea) Bernard of Bedford; two sons, Adam R. Bernard and his wife, Michele, of Branford, CT and Brendan S. Bernard and his fiancée, Jean Zove, of Somerville, MA; a granddaughter, Ella Bernard; a sister, Ramona “Debbey” Gaudet and her husband, Jerry, of Methuen, MA; and aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, July 9, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 190 Meetinghouse Rd., Bedford. Private burial is at St. Patrick Cemetery, Lowell, MA at the convenience of the family.
