TEWKSBURY: Gerald J. “Jerry” Rogers, age 67, a resident of Tewksbury for the past 36 years, died Wednesday, May 5, 2004 at the Winchester Hospital.
He was the husband of Valerie E. (Benson) Rogers with whom he would have celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary on November 10th.
Born in Somerville on June 4, 1936, he was the son of the late Edward and Hazel (Tyler) Rogers.
Mr. Rogers was raised in Cambridge and Somerville.
He attended Somerville Vocational High School.
Mr. Rogers served with the 26th Signal Company of the Massachusetts Army National Guard from 1952 until being honorably discharged in 1958.
Prior to his retirement in 1995, he was a member of the Teamsters Local # 25 of Charlestown.
He was a communicant of St. Dorothy’s Parish in Wilmington.
Mr. Rogers was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fr. Croke Council # 4982 of Wilmington.
He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. In addition, he enjoyed constructing model cars and trucks.
Besides his wife, he is survived by 2 daughters; Virginia E. “Ginny” Rogers of Medford and Kristina M. Rogers of Tewksbury; 5 brothers; J. Richard Rogers and his wife Carrie of Cambridge, Donald Rogers and his wife Lorraine of Tewksbury, Ronald Rogers and his wife Mary of Nashville, TN, Philip Crowley and his wife Rose of Chelsea and Kenneth Crowley; 3 sisters; Bernice Kaminski and her husband Ed of Taunton, Mary Clary of Aberdeen, Maryland and Mildred Strickler of Fall River; his close friends; the Merrick and O’Leary families.
Calling hours Sunday 4-8 p.m. at the FARMER & DEE FUNERAL HOME, 16 LEE ST., TEWKSBURY. Funeral Monday at 9 a.m. from the funeral home. Funeral Mass Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Dorothy’s Church, Main St., Rte. 38, Wilmington. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery.
