Eugenia C. (Magiera) Dover, 89, of Hampton, New Hampshire, died peacefully Sunday evening in Portsmouth Regional Hospital in Portsmouth.
Eugenia, daughter of the late Andrew and Apalonia (Swederski) Magiera, was born in Lowell in January 2, 1923. Her beloved husband, Vincent R. Dover, died in 1991. She graduated from Lowell High School and later attended Lowell General Hospital School of Nursing and graduated from the Cambridge School of Swedish Massage and Medical Gymnastics in 1947. She worked as a therapist for over fifty years. Eugenia also worked for the Smithtown Spa in Smithtown, Long Island, New York and Elizabeth Arden in Boston. Previously, she worked as a Stencil Draftsman for the Pratt and Whitney Engineering firm in East Hartford, CT in 1944.
Eugenia shared a love of classical music and studied voice and music and performed many solos in your younger years. She was an avid reader. While in Hampton, she attended Miraculous Medal Church in Hampton. Eugenia attended St. Monica’s Church in Methuen.
She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Susan Dover of Hampton, New Hampshire and son-in-law, Martin Olesen of Hampton, New Hampshire and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one sister, Stella Zgrebnak and four brothers, Edward Magiera, Thaddeus “Ted” Magiera, Emil Magiera and Zigmont “Zig” Magiera. Anyone who knew Eugenia will remember how much she missed her beloved cat, “Bam Bam.” She treated “Bam Bam” like her own child and has missed him every day since his passing.
Family and friends are planning to honor and celebrate Eugenia’s life by gathering for her Funeral Mass which will be celebrated in St. Monica’s Church, 212 Lawrence St., Methuen on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at 10:30 AM. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband in Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen immediately following the Mass.
