Obituary

Brian M. Hanafin, 23, of Londonderry, NH, died Wednesday, May 5, 2004 in his home following a long battle with brain cancer. Brian was born in Massachusetts on March 6, 1981. He was a resident of Londonderry for 19 years, formerly living in Winthrop, MA. He was a graduate of Londonderry High School, Class of 2000, where he was tri-captain of the soccer team and in 1999 was named All New England High School Soccer player for New Hampshire. He was also selected by his coaches for several team player awards. He played for the ODT (Olympic Development Teams), as well as for multiple local and regional teams . Brian was an excellent student and was a member of the Lamda Chi Alpha Fraternity at UNH in Durham. He was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his parents, Jerry and Karen (Williams) Hanafin of Londonderry, his sister, Jessica Hanafin of Londonderry, several aunts and uncles, Marie Williams O'Rourke and her husband Terry of Larkspur, CA, Michael Williams and his wife Jeanne of Winthrop, MA, Michael Hanafin and his wife Anne of Greenfields, NY, William Hanafin and his wife Lorraine of Charlestown, MA, John Hanafin and Kevin Hanafin both of Medford, MA, and his cousins, Sarah, Kelley, Neil, Catherine, Diane and Eileen.

Friends may call on Friday, May 7th from 1 - 3 and 6 - 8 pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. Following cremation, a Liturgy of the Word will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:00am at St. Jude Parish, 435 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. The burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Londonderry. Memorial contributions may be made to the Brian Hanafin Memorial Scholarship Fund, C/O Citizens Bank, 42 Nashua Road, Londonderry, NH 03053.
