Mary E. ‘Betty” Schillaci, a retired teacher in Boston Public Schools, died after a period of declining health. She was 84.
Born and raised in South Boston, she was the daughter of the late George and the late Hazel (Gammon) McGlew. A Medford resident for many years, Betty graduated from the Mass. College of Art and taught for over 25 years in various schools in the Boston Public School system. She loved art and was proficient in many mediums especially charcoal drawing. She was a devoted wife and mother who assisted her husband in operating their jewelry store on Washington St., Boston, Paragon Jewelers.
The beloved wife of the late Salvatore, she was a devoted mother to Steven Schillaci and his fiancé Joan Russell of Medford. The devoted sister of the late Lawrence McGlew formerly of Wellesley, she was a dear aunt to Vincent, Steven and Frankie LaQuaglia and is also survived by many cousins in Maine and Connecticut.
Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Tuesday, July 3rd at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High Street, Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday 4 - 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
