Grace M. Cooney, 87, of Auburn, passed away peacefully Friday, June 29th, in her home. She leaves a brother, John J. Cooney of Auburn. She was a loving aunt to 22 nieces and nephews and 32 grand nieces and nephew, whom she adored. She was predeceased by four brothers, William, George, Edward, and James Cooney, and three sisters, Mary Cooney, Gertrude Collins, and Dorothy Cooney.
She was born in Worcester, the daughter of George A. and Gertrude P. (Doyle) Cooney and was a 1943 graduate of St. Peter’s High School and also attended the former Ward School of Airline Training. Miss Cooney worked for Northeast and Delta Airlines, before retiring in 1983. She was a member of North American Martyrs Church, the Delta Retirees, and the Auburn Senior Center.
The funeral is Tuesday, July 3rd from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester, with a Mass at 11:00 A.M. in North American Martyrs Church, 8 Wyoma Drive. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Leicester. A visiting hour is from 9:30 until 10:30 A.M. Tuesday in the funeral home.
