Obituary

Rose A. (Montagno) (Schmit) Nichols age 87, of Carver, formerly of Brockton, died June 27, 2012 following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Frederick E. Schmit and John J. Nichols. Born and raised in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Marie A. (Guertin) Montagno. Rose was a graduate of Brockton High School and had been employed in the bakery department at Shaws Supermarket for over 30 years. She was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Carver; enjoyed travel and loved time spent with her children and family.
Rose is survived by her children Paul E. Schmit of Carver, Mary E. Asiaf of Wareham, James G. Schmit and his wife Kathleen of Whitman, Anne Marie Schmit of Carver, Anthony Schmit and his wife Nancy of Wareham and Corinne Lenihan and her husband Michael of Bourne; two sisters Marie McLaughlin and Alma Caron both of Carver; 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Gerard A. Schmit and sister of the late Rita Peterson.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Monday 4-8pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Tuesday at 9am for a funeral mass in Christ the King Parish at 10am. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery.
