Obituary

LEICESTER; Mary F. (Hwalek) Gervais, 86 of 957 Stafford St., Rochdale section of Leicester died Sunday May 2 in The Meadows of Leicester.

Her husband of 56 years, William E. Gervais died in 1997. She leaves five daughters Marguerite H.wife of Thomas Perry of Leicester, Judith A. Hornaman of Port St. Lucie, FL., Joan M. Brazeau of Sutton, Elizabeth M. Gervais of Worcester and Ann M. wife of James Fancy of Auburn, a sister Helen Frederick of Southbridge, 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

She is pre-deceased by two sisters Sophie Rodman and Katie Filo and five brothers Fred, Theodore, John, Stanley and Walter Hwalek. Born in Southbridge, she was the daughter of Joseph and Frances (Slota) Hwalek.

She graduated from the former Mary E. Wells High School in Southbridge (1934) at the age of 15. She was a printer at Steel Products Co. in Rochdale before retiring. She was a member of St. Aloysius- St. Jude Church and a charter member of its' Ladies Guild. She was also a member of the Friends of the Elders and the Leicester Senior Line Dancers, she enjoyed gardening, flower arranging, playing whist and darts.

The Funeral will be held Thursday May 6 from the MORRISON-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St.,Leicester with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St.Aloysius-St. Jude Church, 489 Pleasant St., Leicester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Wednesday May 5 from 5 to 8p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Friends of the Elders, P.O.
