Obituary

Joseph Brackett, 78, a lifelong resident of Blackstone, MA, lost his battle to Pulmonary Fibrosis on Monday evening in the comfort of his home. He was the beloved husband of Janet A. (Boisvert) Brackett.
A talented athlete, Joe was a standout player on his high school basketball and baseball teams. He carried his love for sports into his adulthood, as shown through his passion for golf. When not hitting the links, Joe was dedicated to caring for his wife and tending to his meticulous lawn and beautiful roses.
After serving in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict, Joe continued a very successful and respected career as an aircraft mechanic. In 1982 he opened his own company, Brackett Aircraft Maintenance. He mentored many budding mechanics and do-it-yourself pilots, forging lifetime friendships. He recently received the FAA Charles Taylor Master Mechanic award for 50years of service in aviation safety.
He is survived by his four children, Debra L. Brackett of Philadelphia, PA; Jeffrey D. Brackett of Bristol, RI and his wife Mary. Joanne M. Brackett of Woonsocket, RI and her partner Susan Arpin; Brenda E. Mercure of Millville, MA and her husband Ken. He also leaves a brother George Bousquet of Blackstone, MA; sister Marie Mercure of Franklin, MA; sister Rachel Richer of Eastham, MA. He was the proud grandfather of – Mackenzie and Matthew; and step-grand children Jenna, Jill and Cody.
There will be no calling hours . His Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday June 30, 2012 at 9:00 am in the Church of St. Paul, 48 St. Paul St., Blackstone. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery.
